What Type of Jobs Are Offered in SSC MTS?

There are different government departments across India in which SSC Multi Tasking Staff are being selected. MTS is purely a group D job, or we call it Office Peon or Office Boy. Since the Group D posts are is abolished in India, MTS is being recruited for various government jobs.

Now coming to the point, 50% of candidates selected for MTS selected candidates will work as a peon and get promoted in 4-5 years as Lower Division Clerk (LDC). The promotions are strictly based on seniority wise and good support from your employee union. Promotions after that are quite vague.

SSC MTS Job Profile In Income Tax Department 

Though you are joining as MTS in Income Tax, you are treated well and mostly works better than MTS. You will get ample opportunity to learn and be promoted to Tax Assistant after four years of passing the Skill Test. From there on, you’ll get promotions every 3-4 years.

You’ll get a good time studying. You’ll be working with Income Tax’s senior officer sometimes, that too as like personal assistant to them. You will get a good infrastructure and environment if you are posted as MTS in the Income Tax department. You have various OBC, SC/ST and unions at the back of you to support.

Job Profile of SSC MTS in Other Departments

Here are some of the most important responsibilities of SSC Multi Tasking Staff, set by the government of India

1. Physical maintenance of all departmental records/ files.
2. General cleanliness & upkeep of the posted section/ unit
3. Carrying of files & other papers within the department
4. Carrying out Xerox, sending of Fax etc.
5. Other non-clerical work in the department
6. Assisting in routine office work like a diary, dispatch etc., including on computer work
7. Delivering of Letters/Documents (outside the building)
8. Department watch & ward duties
9. Opening & closing of rooms of the building
10. Cleaning of Building rooms.
11. The dusting of furniture etc.
12. Cleaning of building, fixtures etc.

While The Pay-scale of Multi Tasking Staff follows Pay Band-1 (₹ 5200-20200) + Grade Pay ₹ 1800 (Revised Pay Scale after 7th Central Pay Commission by Government of India.)

But, the In-hand salary of SSC MTS ranges between ₹ 18000 – ₹ 22000 per month approx. The salary may vary a bit as per the location of posting and allowances applicable in that location.
